Encouraging Leaders as Jesus Intends

Statement of Faith & Code of Conduct

Adherence to this Statement of Faith and Code of Conduct is determined by the Board of Directors of EQUIP Leadership Canada (“ELC”). All who serve with, represent, or partner with ELC agree to live and minister in a manner consistent with the following convictions in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Statement of Faith

At EQUIP Leadership Canada, our ministry is grounded in the Gospel of Grace and shaped by a historic, Christ-centered faith rooted in the Scriptures. We affirm the following:

1. Scripture

We believe that the Bible is the inspired, authoritative, and trustworthy Word of God, given for teaching, correction, and transformation.

Key Scripture: 2 Timothy 3:16–17 – “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.”

Supporting References: 2 Peter 1:20–21; Psalm 119:105; Matthew 5:18

2. The Triune God

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Key Scripture: Matthew 28:19 – “Go therefore and make disciples… baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”

Supporting References: Deuteronomy 6:4; 2 Corinthians 13:14; John 14:16–17

3. Jesus Christ

We believe in the full deity and full humanity of our Lord Jesus Christ—His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, atoning death on the cross, bodily resurrection, ascension to the Father, and future return in glory.

Key Scripture: John 1:14 – “The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us.”

Supporting References: John 1:1; Luke 1:34–35; Hebrews 4:15; Romans 5:8–9;
1 Corinthians 15:3–4; Acts 1:9–11; Revelation 19:11–16

4. Salvation by Grace

We believe that all humanity is in need of redemption and that salvation is a gift of God’s grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ alone.

Key Scripture: Ephesians 2:8–9 – “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.”

Supporting References: John 3:3–7; Titus 3:5; Romans 10:9–10

5. The Ministry of the Holy Spirit

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.

Key Scripture: 1 Corinthians 6:19–20 – “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you…?”

Supporting References: Romans 8:9–11; Galatians 5:22–23; John 14:26

6. Resurrection and Eternal Life

We believe in the resurrection of the saved and the lost—the saved to eternal life with God, and the lost to separation from Him.

Key Scripture: 1 Corinthians 15:51–52 – “Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed—in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet…”

Supporting References: John 5:28–29; Daniel 12:2; Revelation 20:12–15

7. The Unity of Believers

We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Key Scripture: Ephesians 4:4–6 – “There is one body and one Spirit… one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all.”

Supporting References: John 17:20–23; 1 Corinthians 12:12–13; Colossians 3:14

8. Human Dignity and Creation

We believe that every person is created in the image of God and is inherently valuable, regardless of age, ability, or circumstance. We affirm God’s design for humanity and recognize physicality—male and female—as part of His good creation.

Key Scripture: Genesis 1:26–27 – “So God created mankind in his own image… male and female he created them.”

Supporting References: Psalm 139:13–14; Matthew 10:29–31; James 3:9

9. Marriage and Sexuality

We believe that God designed marriage as a covenantal union between one man and one woman, forming the foundation for family life. Sexual relationships are reserved for the context of biblical marriage.

Key Scripture: Matthew 19:4–6 – “Haven’t you read… that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female’… Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

Supporting References: Hebrews 13:4; 1 Corinthians 6:18–20; Ephesians 5:31–33

10. The Sanctity of Life

We believe that human life is sacred from conception to natural death, and we commit to care for the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of others.

Key Scripture: Psalm 139:16 – “Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book.”

Supporting References: Jeremiah 1:5; Luke 1:41–44; Matthew 25:35–40

ELC Code of Conduct

ELC is devoted to equipping and encouraging leaders worldwide through the Gospel of Grace and the principles of Authentic Leadership. Therefore, all who serve with or represent ELC commit to the following, not as a means of earning God’s favour, but as a response to His grace, lived out in the power of the Holy Spirit:

1. To Love and Serve Others

We seek to model Christlike character—compassion, humility, forgiveness, patience, and unity—in both ministry and daily life. We do so not as the product of our own striving, but as the natural fruit of a secure and living relationship with Jesus Christ, from whom true love and service flow.

(Colossians 3:12–15; John 13:34–35; Romans 15:5; Ephesians 4:32)

2. To Walk in Integrity and Spiritual Maturity

We desire to live in a manner consistent with Scripture, allowing the Holy Spirit to transform our hearts and minds. Rather than being driven by external compliance, we seek ongoing formation from the inside out, learning to resist attitudes and behaviours that arise from the flesh as we grow in grace and truth.

(Galatians 5:19–21; 1 Corinthians 6:12–20; Colossians 3:5–9)

3. To Maintain High Ethical Standards

We pursue excellence, accountability, and transparency in all ministry responsibilities, financial matters, leadership roles, and personal conduct. These practices are an expression of stewardship and trustworthiness, flowing from our identity as servants of Christ and our calling to honour Him in all things.

(1 Timothy 3:1–7; Titus 3:2–7)

4. To Model Christlike Leadership

We seek to lead as Jesus leads—from humility, love, and sacrificial service—being examples in speech, faith, purity, and character. Authentic Leadership flows from who we are in Christ before what we do, reflecting His life through us rather than promoting ourselves.

(1 Timothy 4:12; Philippians 2:14–15; 1 Thessalonians 4:7; Colossians 3:12–17; Ephesians 5:2)

In all things, ELC seeks to encourage leaders as Jesus intends—walking in newness of life, empowered by the Holy Spirit, grounded in grace, and committed to multiplying healthy, gospel-centered leadership around the world.
