EQUIP Leadership Canada and ISTL became partners in 2012 when ISTL Founder and President, Hervin Fushekati, met ELC Executive Director, Mark Middleton, at a large conference in the USA. They “just happened” to be sitting beside together, although they had never met, when the conference leader asked those in attendance to pray with the person(s) next to them. The prayer and following conversations led to a wonderful partnership which continues to this day.
The International School of Theology and Leadership (ISTL), Tirana, Albania, exists to equip Christian leaders for ministry and the establishment of churches. Christian Leadership is one of the 4 main concentrations of ISTL–not just leadership principles and values but also the heart and mind of each Christian.
We have found the Authentic Leadership curriculum best for our first year students and have made it a required course in the first semester. We chose it as the foundation of our leadership concentration because we believe that every Christian must recognize their new heart through the power of the Gospel and the need for a renewed mind through the power of the Holy Spirit.
We are very thankful to Wes Boldt and Paul Pascoal for traveling for such a long distance, twice a year to teach our students. During COVID, we have continued our classes online. Wes and Paul are doing a great job interacting with our students who are located in different areas of the Balkans and ISTL mentoring centers.
